The challenge
A badge alone proves possession of a badge, not identity. Programs that gate access to secure facilities — or expedite trusted travelers — need to bind a credential to a person with enough factors and tamper resistance to withstand a determined adversary.
What we built
An integrated, multi-factor credentialing and access platform spanning the card in the hand and the reader at the door.
- Prototype smart-card, RFID/MiFare proximity, and laser-card credential designs with layered anti-counterfeiting
- Facial-recognition verification matching the live subject to the enrolled credential
- High-speed document readers with 2D barcode decoding and digital watermarking for tamper-evident identity documents
- Biometric reader evaluation and selection, integrated into a coherent enrollment-to-access workflow
How it works
Enrollment binds biometric templates and document data to a tamper-resistant credential. At the point of access, the reader cross-checks the presented card, the live biometric, and (where required) a verified document — granting access only on agreement of multiple independent factors, with every decision logged.
Results
- A working multi-factor identity prototype spanning card, biometric, and document assurance
- Counterfeit resistance layered across the physical credential and its machine-readable features
- Direct lineage from real R&D in credentialing, facility security, and trusted-traveler identity
