ITIL Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

You can't manage what you can't see. We designed and delivered an ITIL-compliant CMDB from requirements to rollout — giving an enterprise one authoritative map of every asset and service, and how a change to one ripples into the rest.

// Problem

The challenge

Critical infrastructure knowledge lived in spreadsheets, ticket history, and a few people's heads. Without a reliable model of configuration items and their relationships, change management was guesswork and outages came from "we didn't know that depended on this."

// Solution

What we built

A purpose-built CMDB, delivered across the full project lifecycle — requirements gathering, scope definition, change management, development, testing, and deployment.

  • A flexible configuration-item model capturing assets, services, and the relationships between them
  • Automated discovery and reconciliation to keep records honest instead of stale
  • Service mapping and impact analysis so a proposed change shows its blast radius before approval
  • Role-based access, audit history, and integration hooks (REST API) into change and incident workflows
// Architecture

How it works

A normalized relationship graph backs the CMDB, with discovery feeds reconciling against the authoritative record on a schedule. Impact queries traverse dependencies to answer "what else does this touch?" The API lets change-management and monitoring systems both read from and contribute to a single shared model.

// Outcome

Results

  • One trusted source of truth for assets, services, and dependencies across the enterprise
  • Change risk made visible up front through dependency-aware impact analysis
  • A foundation for cleaner incident response, capacity planning, and audit readiness
