The challenge
Dispatch ran on phone calls and rough ETAs. Nobody could see the fleet at a glance, prove a vehicle visited a site, or know when a driver had arrived without calling to ask.
What we built
A real-time tracking and dispatch dashboard fed by in-vehicle telematics.
- Live vehicle positions streamed to a map over WebSockets with sub-minute freshness
- Geofences that fire arrival/departure events and exception alerts (speeding, after-hours movement, off-route)
- Searchable route history and replay for proof-of-service and dispute resolution
- Driver-facing job list and status updates that close the loop with dispatch
How it works
Devices push location and telemetry to an ingestion service that writes to a time-series store and broadcasts updates to connected dashboards in real time. Geofence evaluation runs on the stream, raising events the moment a boundary is crossed. History queries power replay and reporting.
Results
- "Where is the truck?" answered at a glance instead of by phone
- Verifiable proof-of-visit from geofence events and route replay
- Faster, tighter dispatch with live status instead of stale assumptions
